Houses of worship provide inspiring insight into St. Louis History

Sometimes when a writer starts working on a piece, the final destination is unknown. Sometimes the writer leads the way; sometimes the research or story does. In this case, it was the latter.
As I started looking at some of St. Louis’ most notable houses of worship, I found myself impressed by the architecture and artwork displayed and by the feelings that the buildings generated in me. This reaction I expected. However, I was surprised and equally fascinated by the history of the buildings and the congregations who built them. What follows is an attempt to convey both in the hope that you will be inspired to experience the beauty and history of these churches and others for yourself.
