“I have always been a writer,” says Show-Me Missouri staff writer and columnist LUCINDA SIGNAIGO. “For me, writing is a mix of torture and rapture. There’s a lot of solitude that comes with it, a lot of time spent in your own head, but it’s also a profession without restrictions that carries with it the potential to impact people you’ll never even meet. That’s where the torture comes in, that responsibility of always stringing the words together in a meaningful and beneficial way.”

Enjoying both city and rural settings Lucinda has lived most of her life in Missouri, raising her two children here. She has devoted more than a decade to youth soccer, serving as a coach and administrator at both local and state levels.

The journey for many writers is convoluted, and Signaigo is no exception. “I think I’ve worked a million different kinds of jobs,” she says, “but each one contributed in some fashion to my ability as a writer. They gave me depth, usually a fair amount of frustration (and the potential to learn patience), and taught me about people.”

Besides Show-Me Missouri, Signaigo’s work has been published regularly in This Month at the Lake magazine, Mid-Missouri Magazine and the Lake Sun Leader.

What’s my favorite article? That’s easy. It’s the next one I’m going to write. I know I’ll be meeting someone new with a passion they want to share. I know I’m going to come away smarter and then I get the privilege of passing that information on to our readers.”

These days Signaigo spends much of her time in Columbia where, along with her writing career, she works as a Lifestyle Educator and Officer Manager for Tiger Family Chiropractic and Wellness Center.
